I just found the best analogy to describe what interpreting can be like sometimes (not always).

You know that hella famous I Love Lucy episode where they get a job at the chocolate factory?

Let’s pretend the balls (hah) that are coming towards them are the message I have to interpret, or dip in chocolate. What is signed or voiced ends up being those chocolate dipped balls.

At first, they’re doing fine taking those balls and dipping them in chocolate and sending them on their way down the line. But then things get quicker, or more complex. They struggle to keep up with them and the quality of those chocolates (the interpreted message) diminish.

This eventually just turns into total chaos, which, when in class, usually means I throw my hands up in the air and give up.

Just felt like sharing. I thought it was kinda cool.
